Do you want a bank account or a funding partner?

Bluevine is built around business banking, and the line of credit sits inside it. If you want checking, payments and a credit line under one login, with instant access to approved draws, that's a genuinely tidy setup.

The question to ask is what happens if the line isn't the right product. Bluevine's other financing comes from third-party partners, so ask who you'd be dealing with, and whose terms you'd be signing.

We don't offer checking, so if banking is what you're after, Bluevine does something we don't. We're focused on funding, with eight products, including equipment financing and invoice factoring, which Bluevine doesn't list.

Will you meet the bar for its line?

Bluevine publishes exactly what its line takes: a 625 FICO score, 12 months in business, $10,000 in monthly revenue and a $2,000 average bank balance. Its better monthly plan asks for 700, three years and over $80,000 a month. That's clear, and if you qualify you'll know it quickly.

Ask any lender which plan you'd actually get, not just which one is advertised. On a credit line, a shorter repayment plan can change your weekly cash flow more than the headline rate does.

Our bar sits at around 500 credit, six months in business and about $15K in monthly revenue. Bluevine's $10,000 revenue minimum is lower than ours. Its credit and time minimums are higher. Our business line of credit runs up to $5M, based on your business.

How do you read a rate of 7.8%?

Bluevine advertises rates as low as 7.8% for top qualifying customers, and its line carries no setup, maintenance or termination fees. It also shows you the total fees on a draw before you confirm it. Those are real points in its favor.

"As low as" tells you the best case. Ask any lender what rate businesses like yours typically get, and what the draw costs in dollars. Check early repayment too: on Bluevine's 12 weekly installment plan, prepaying doesn't reduce the total interest owed.

We don't publish a rate because yours depends on the offer, and you'll see the full cost before you sign. To compare a quote, use our business line of credit calculator.
